Save the date for the Gather ‘Round the Blue Ridge meeting Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Conference Center in Asheville.

The event will highlight the Heritage Area's 15 years of success in protecting and promoting our cultural assets in music, craft, foodways, Cherokee tradition and our natural assets in outdoor recreation across the 25 counties of Western North Carolina.

The annual partner meeting will feature keynote speaker Anne Pope, Executive Director of the Tennessee Arts Commission. Pope has long championed the benefits of cultural tourism.

She has previously served as federal co-chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission, where she led a variety of economic and community development initiatives, including asset-based economic development. She has also served as commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance and as executive director of the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission.
