ACA Volleyball

The Asheville Christian Academy volleyball team easily handled the visitors from the Rabun Gap School last week. The Lions were never tested winning three routine games (25-14, 25-16, 25-14). The Lions were led by Paige McDonald who finished with 15 kills and 13 digs. Katie Alexander produced 33 assists, 4 digs and 5 services aces.

The Lions found little difficulty in picking up their second win of the week dismissing Hickory Grove Christian Academy 25-11, 25-16, 25-9. Paige McDonald again led the Lions with 15 kills. Peyton Hightower added 11 kills and Katie Alexander finished with 26 assists and 7 digs. The Lions currently stand at 7-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play. It’s a busy week ahead for the Lions as they take to the court four times with matches against Pisgah High School, Ashville School, Haywood Christian and Carolina Day.

On the tennis courts The ACA girls team picked up their first win of the season with an 8-1 victory over the Rabun Gap School. In the number one singles match Mayla Hetzel defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-3. Kendall Cender, Lydia West, Penelope Cupp, and Sophie Renfro also picked up relatively easy singles victories. Hetzel and Addie Moyers won their doubles match 8-2. Cender and West finished off their opponents 8-3 and Renfro and CeCe Condra won their match 8-4. The victory puts the Lions at 1-4 overall and 1-1 in conference action. They will take to the courts this week against conference foes Ashville School and Carolina Day School.

The Lions soccer team picked up their first win of the season in dramatic fashion with a penalty kick shoot-out victory against Hickory Grove Christian Academy. The Lions scored two second half goals to tie the score and poured in four goals in the shootout to grab the victory.
