With spring break looming and the weather playing havoc on the schedule the Asheville Christian Academy spring sports season has been come to a grinding halt. Both the girls soccer team and baseball teams have had limited games over the last two weeks but last week the ACA track team competed in the Western North Carolina Daylight Lead Off event that took place at AC Reynolds High School. This co-ed Varsity meet saw several Lions runners not only perform well but also record personal records in the process.

The girls track team was led by Chloe Gilbert who secured the highest finish on the day by placing second in the 800 Meters. She finished in 2:34:1 which was good enough for a personal record. Gilbert also competed in the 3200 Meters and finished fourth with a time of 12:49.9. Cecelia Young finished 6th in the 3200 Meters with a time of 13:02.8.

In the 200 Meters, Layla Dasher finished seventh overall but set a personal record of 29.5 in the process. Kristin Gruniger competed in the 400 Meter event. She finished with a time of 1:12.1 which was good enough for eighth place. Long Jumper Avery Jackson finished the scoring for the Lions with an average distance of 15-07.50 mark.

On the boys side, Keifer Moore highlighted the Lions event with a second place finish in the 100 Meters. He finished with a personal best time of 12.0. Moore also faired well in the 200 Meters finishing just off the podium in fourth place with a second personal record coming in with a time of 24.4. Moore wasn’t finished as he secured his third personal record in the Long Jump. He finished in fourth place with an average distance of 17-10.00. Carter Compton nailed down sixth place in the Long Jump with an average of 17-03.00. In the 800 Meters, Jax Ledford came in fifth for the Lions with a time of 2:11.7. To close things out, both Mitchell Crawford and Bode Lizarralde nailed down personal records in their respective events. Crawford finished eighth in the 200 Meters with a time of 25.4. Lizzaralde came in 9th in the 400 Meters with a time of 59.4.
