The Asheville Christian Academy baseball team dropped a high scoring extra-inning affair to West Henderson High School last week. After two innings West Henderson held a 6-3 lead but a three run fourth inning by the Lions leveled the score. ACA pulled ahead by a run in the top of the 6th to lead 10-9 but West Henderson responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score. Both teams scored a run in the seventh, but West Henderson held the Lions at bay in the top of the eighth and scored a run in the bottom half to win the game 12-11.

Josh Morgan was the only Lions batter with two hits on the day. Isaiah Barton, Gavyn Sawyer, Jalen Walker-Crawford and Ryan Blake each scored two runs for the Lions. Blake and Barton both led the Lions with two RBI a piece. The Lions also dropped two games to Rabun Gap School last week to bring their regular season to an end. The tough week brought the Lions overall record to 8-11 overall. They will proceed to the NCISAA state tournament beginning this week.

The ACA girls soccer team ended their regular season last week with a 1-0 victory against Rabun Gap but fell 5-1 in their final match against Asheville School. A resurgent second half of the season helps the Lions finish with a 7-9-1 overall record. They will also begin NCISAA tournament play this week.

In other ACS sports news, Reece Collie won the 1600m event at the Blue Ridge Classic with a time of 4:28. On the tennis court, Eli Poole picked up the lone singles win of the week for the Lions with a 3-6, 7-5, (10-8) victory in the #2 seed matchup against Rabun Gap.
