The Asheville Christian Academy soccer team found themselves facing an early deficit against High Point Christian. High Point scored two goals in the first six minutes and held a 3-1 lead at the half. After the break, however, momentum shifted in favor of the Lions.
Sam Perry scored the first second half goal for the Lions in the 47th minute. Sam Flagler tied the score with a goal in the 56th minute and Perry capped off the comeback in the 65th minute with his second goal of the day. The Lions pulled off the 4-3 victory earning their third win of the season.
On the volleyball court, the Lions picked up two wins last week. In a thriller against Statesville Christian, the Lions put together a 15-12 score in the fifth and final set to bring home the victory. The Lions also nailed down a 4 set win over High Point Christian (25-20, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13).
Reese Waites led the Lions with 14 kills and 5 blocks. Kaylee Gilkeyson added 18 digs and 8 kills while Emerson Hoyle added to her season assist total with 48 more against High Point Christian.
The Lion Cross Country team hosted the 3rd annual Ramble by the River last week on the ACA campus. There were over 700 high school runners that participated. ACA’s Holly Lanter had a remarkable finish winning the girls event with a time of 20:15:94. The Lion’s Chloe Gilbert finished third with a time of 20:17:71. Lily Johnson set a personal best time of 20:06.58.
On the boys side there were eight personal records set including those by Spencer Young (17:32.89), Moultrie Dangerfield (18:09.90), Preston Hill (18:17.90), Alex Rudins (18:22.07), Ethan Kemp (18:44.21), Harrison Northrup (18:45.11), Kiefer Moore (18:51.24) and Camden Shumen (19:11.53).
