Turkey Run

Fleet Feet Asheville, located in Biltmore Park Town Square, will host the first South Asheville Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, Nov. 22 starting at 9 a.m.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Sheep Dog Impact Assistance of WNC.

This brand new race will be South Asheville’s only Thanksgiving day certified, USATF 5K. It will begin and end in front of the Fleet Feet Asheville storefront and traverse Biltmore Park Town Square and surrounding neighborhoods.

“Thanksgiving has become the largest running holiday for families across the country,” said Michael Jones, operating partner of Fleet Feet Asheville. “With this race, we want to share miles and smiles before we sit down to a meal, and give thanks for a strong running community in South Asheville. We’re excited to grow the annual tradition of running on Thanksgiving day.”

Registration is $35 per person and is now open online or at Fleet Feet Asheville located at 8 Town Square Blvd., Suite 165, Asheville.

$5 of each entry goes directly to Sheep Dog Impact Assistance of WNC. All pre-registered participants will receive a long sleeve T-shirt, finisher medal upon completion, swag from race vendor partners, raffle tickets and post-race refreshments.

Pre-race packet pickup is Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 4-8 p.m. at Fleet Feet Asheville. Same-day registration and packet pickup is Thursday, Nov. 22, from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Same-day registrants are not guaranteed a T-shirt.

Following the race at 10 a.m., awards and raffles will be announced. First-place winners overall in the men’s and women’s categories will each receive a 10-pound smoked turkey courtesy of Luella’s BBQ.
