The Brevard Music Center Summer Festival marks its return in 2021, for five weeks, spanning July 9 to Aug. 8. Highlights will include Beethoven@251 “Festival Within a Festival,” the acclaimed BMC Presenters series, performances by Brevard Music Center’s Janiec Opera Company, esteemed artist faculty and more.
More than 100 concerts and events are scheduled throughout the festival at two lakeside venues — the 2,200-seat, open-air Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium and the newly completed 400-seat Parker Concert Hall. Other performances will take place throughout the campus and community.
Concerts will feature genres from symphony to chamber and opera to piano lovers.
The opening night reception will be a celebration of Beethoven, featuring “Violin Concerto” and “Symphony No. 7.” BMC Conductor Keith Lockhart will welcome returning violinist Anne Akko Meyers as he conducts the Brevard Music Center Orchestra for its 85th anniversary season.
The following week will include the Janiec Opera Company’s “Opera’s Greatest Hits,” while Lockhart will offer performances of Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations and Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Family friendly performances throughout the season will include “Hollywood Under the Stars,” featuring the famous music of composer John Williams, and “Broadway’s Greatest Hits.”
Auditorium and lawn seating is available.
