Fletcher— As the mercury drops and Old Man Winter comes sneaking in, we’re ready for all those awesome winter activities that turn cold weather into “cool” weather: hot chocolate, snowball fights and sledding included. This year’s races will feature a special heartwarming moment that is sure to be unforgettable, at least for two people.

Jody Moll has been running races on behalf of David for a while. David cannot run, but through a special program, Jody was matched up to be his legs for him. She has been in contact via Facebook with him nearly every day since they were matched together. She shares her workouts and when she can, she sends him medals from the races she runs. The Frostbite Race is near David’s home and this year, Jody will be running the race on behalf of David.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, David and Jody will get to meet in person for the first time. It is sure to be a special moment for them and their families. Come on out and join us at 2 p.m. for the Frostbite 10K, 5K and one mile Fun Run.

You can register online until Feb. 17 at racesonline.com/events/frostbiteraces.

The race starts Sunday, Feb. 21 at 2 pm at the Lelia Patterson Center located at 1111 Howard Gap Rd, Fletcher. A portion of the proceeds from the race will go to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Western North Carolina.
