The Utopian Seed Project will have its Trial to Table Spring Celebration from 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at The Mule in Asheville.

The Trial to Table event showcases crops and varieties from the Utopian Seed Project farm trials via the hands of local chefs.

The Spring Celebration will focus on baked goods made with tropical root flours and alternative seed flours by area bakers and pastry chefs. The Utopian Seed Project grows achira, yacon, cassava, ube, yam, sweet potato, turmeric, ginger, arrowroot and more.

The suggested ticket price is $50 and includes two small plates from each chef — eight plates total. The event will also have a Utopian Seed Project tasting table to show off some of these ingredients in their pure form.

The Utopian Seed Project works to make its events as accessible as possible with a flexible pricing policy.
