Eileen Ivers and Universal Roots

Come see Eileen Ivers perform with her band Universal Roots on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. at Asheville's Diana Wortham Theatre.

Shredding her electric fiddle through looping, fuzz and wah effects — sawing her bow across the strings like an orchestral psychedelic rock star — Eileen Ivers has been described as “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin."

Having played with more than 50 symphony orchestras, this nine-time All Ireland Fiddle Champion is now touring with her dynamic new band, Universal Roots.

A Grammy Award-winner and Emmy-nominated performer, Ivers pushes the boundaries of the fiddling tradition, taking a fiercely fresh approach to the folk music staple instrument. Her most recent work showcases the intersection of Celtic tradition and North American roots music, taking audiences on a journey through time, from folk traditions to modern influence.

Tickets to the show cost $20-$60 and can be purchased online at www.dwtheatre.com.
