It has been a successful season for the Carolina Day School varsity basketball programs, and the state honors and recognitions keep rolling in for the Wildcats.

Varsity girls basketball Coaches Joe Carrington, Jennie West, and Bill Parker, have been chosen by their peers across the state of North Carolina to direct the West team. According to Carrington, “this is a tremendous honor and we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity. It’ll be a terrific day not only for me and my coaching staff but also for Halei and Ralene.”

Wildcat seniors Ralene Kwiatkowski and Halei Gillis, both Fordham University basketball commits, have been named to the West team, and both are looking forward to the experience. Kwiatkowski, the Player of the Year in the CAA is ready for the game and says, “I am really excited to play with all the players from other schools and also to play for Coach Carrington one last time. This will be a special game and one that I’ll remember for a long time.”

Gillis, a 6’4” center for the NCISAA 2A 7 time defending Wildcats, is also looking forward to the experience, “It will be really fun to team up with all the other seniors across the state. I’ve competed against all of them over the last four years, but I’m looking forward to calling them teammates this weekend. I hope to end my high school career on a win, and I’m ready to play.” Kwiatkowski and Gillis were also named to the NCISAA 2A All-State Girls Team for the 2016-17.

On the boys side, senior Wildcat Peyton Truesdale, a CAA All-Conference performer this season, has been named to the West team and will join a tremendously talented group of fellow independent school players. “I am very honored to have been selected for this event. I am very excited to be able to play with this level of competition – these are some of the best players in the state of North Carolina. I can’t wait to take the court and compete in this game.”

Both games will be played at Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC, on Saturday, March 4. The girls game will tip at 1 p.m. and the boys will tip at 2:30 p.m.
