In an important matchup that will help determine seeding for the upcoming state tournament the Asheville Christian Academy soccer team downed Caldwell Academy last week by a score of 2-1.

With the score tied 1-1 deep into the second half, 6’7” senior Justin Tene took a ball in the air and headed it past the Eagles keeper to secure the win for the Lions.

The winning kept coming last week as the Lions also knocked off Carolina Day 2-0 and Asheville School 3-1.

The Lions have now won five straight games with a current record of 10-4-1.  This week the schedule remains packed as they hit the road for games against West Henderson, Rabun Gap and Asheville School.

The ACA girls tennis team knocked off Caldwell Academy last week but struggled against two talented opponents dropping matches to Asheville School (8-1) and Carolina Day School (6-3).  The Lions continue to produce very respectable outings in just the second year of the program. Currently, ACA tennis is 4-4 overall.  This week they will get a rematch against Rabun Gap who snuck by the Lions 5-4 in their previous meeting.  ACA will also travel to Asheville School to take on the Blues.

The Lion volleyball team had another successful week knocking off perennial power Caldwell Academy and also taking out both Bob Jones Academy and Carolina Day both in three games.  The Lions are not only 19-0 on the season but have only dropped three games all year. They will take on Rabun Gap, Mountain Heritage and Asheville School this week as they look to remain undefeated.

The Lion cross country team hosted the Ramble on the River event showcasing the fabulous cross country course on campus.  The Lion girls team highlighted the races by capturing first place overall.  Both the boys and girls teams will compete in the Furman Gene Mullin Invitational in Greenville this week.
