As the recently appointed managing broker-in-charge for the Asheville office of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, Beatrix Masotti is getting familiar with the local real estate market while working with her associates in a supportive role.
“Right now I’m focused on bringing the Sotheby’s name to Asheville,” she said.
Masotti is at the helm of a relatively new real estate presence in the area. Just over a year ago Premier Sotheby’s International Realty entered the Asheville market by opening its office on Brook Street in Biltmore Village.
In her new position, Masotti has realized two long-term goals: managing a real estate office and living in the Asheville area.
“The stars were aligned,” Masotti said with a smile.
“Asheville is extremely welcoming,” she remarked. “I’m looking forward to becoming more involved in the community.”
Masotti also enjoys living in a mountain locale that has four seasons.
“I’ve always gravitated to the mountains,” she said.
The culture and brand associated with Sotheby’s International Realty drew Masotti to the company, which has worldwide recognition in the luxury properties market.
“Brand has always been important to me as a Realtor,” Masotti said. “With so many companies in the market, I understood that brand—and brand recognition—were important drivers.”
“Equally important is the culture in an office and the people you surround yourself with,” she added. “At Premier, we support the team.”
A New York native who grew up in Long Island, Masotti and her family have lived in Central Florida for the past 28 years. This past summer, she and her husband moved to Western North Carolina from their home in Winter Park, Florida where Masotti had worked as a Realtor for many years. She also has an extensive background in construction, having worked with her husband on high-end remodeling projects.
“Now I enjoy working with builders and developers,” she said.
The Asheville office of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty is currently overseeing the development in two residential communities: Carriage Park and Falcon Ridge.
The Premier office in Asheville covers a large geographical area, including several surrounding counties, Masotti noted. Associates that work with Masotti market homes in Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Tryon and Burnsville, as well as other towns.
In the past year, the average sale price of homes at the Premier office in Asheville has been $618,732, according to information from the company. Since the office opened, the highest sale was a $3.9 million property in Transylvania County.
Although Sotheby’s International Realty has a long tradition of marketing luxury properties, the company also is involved with charitable efforts, Masotti noted.
The company has formed a partnership with New Story, a non-profit organization that builds homes for people in impoverished countries such as Haiti. One hundred percent of proceeds raised for the organization go toward construction of homes for people who are living in dire conditions, she said. More than 150 homes have been built in Haiti through New Story using local labor.
Headquartered in Naples, Florida, Premier Sotheby’s International Realty has more than 1,000 associates and employees in 40 locations throughout Florida and North Carolina. In addition to Asheville, the company has North Carolina offices in Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Charlotte, Lake Norman and Linville Ridge.
Sotheby’s International Realty markets properties in 60 countries and has a historical association with Sotheby’s auction house, which was established in 1744.
