Shulman, Rodriguez to Perform March 15

Pianist Richard Schulman and saxophonist Jacob Rodriguez have resumes spanning multiple genres, but on Wednesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. it will be their jazz chops on display at the White Horse Black Mountain

Richard Shulman has trained in both the jazz and classical fields He’s recorded twenty-three albums under his own name and has contributed piano and original compositions to many others. He currently divides his concert efforts between performances of his meditative music and jazz. Shulman intends his music to be “a positive influence for himself, audiences, and society,” and bringing beauty into the world is his driving passion. He’s a frequent visitor to the White Horse stage and never fails to dazzle whatever musical guise he wears.

San Antonio native Jacob Rodriguez now makes Asheville his home when he isn’t touring the world as a member of the Michael Bublé band. He can be heard on the Grammy-winning album “Michael Bublé Meets Madison Square Garden” and the current “Crazy Love” album. Rodriguez is on the faculty of UNCA, teaching saxophone and ensembles, and continues to perform and record original music with groups ranging in style from soul to free jazz and indie rock.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 advance/$12 door.
